You know what really irritates me? When you set a date or a time for a call and you seem to brush it off by saying you had to go to the “store” and if this is still a good time but you end up not answering an email for 40 to 50 minutes and never call.

If you are a professional and you say you will do something or have an obligation. You should follow through, and if there is something else that comes up, it doesn’t take much effort to let the other party know that something came up or you can’t anymore.

I get it that we all are busy and have things to do but if you involve someone else and are gonna take up their time and or make them wait. The common courtesy is to at least inform them about your delays. Specially when it’s something important or professionally related.

Had this happen once before not long ago but at least they follow up quick and set up another time and actually showed up. Now it has happen again and this time it just seems like they don’t care or want to do a call. That not only gives the other party a bad impression or them but also of the company they represent.

Yes if you haven’t caught on this is about a phone screening? Call? 15 to 30 minute call about a possible job opportunity. Shame on the people that do this. Not just for phone screenings but overall in life. It really is a pet peeve for me when people have no standards and morals.
